It’s fair to say that yesterday’s defeat was a painful one for everyone associated with Wolverhampton Wanderers. The FA Cup semi-final defeat to Watford is one that will live long in the memory for all the wrong reasons, and one of those reasons is Troy Deeney’s post-match comments branding Raul Jimenez a loser.
Deeney on Jimenez: "I'm glad he put that mask on, he can wear it out as well, now he's a loser. Enjoy the mask, but we got the victory." Interesting.

Having kept his nerve to tuck home a 94th-minute spot-kick, Troy Deeney skippered his side on to overcome Wolves 3-2 in extra-time at Wembley and send his side through to an FA Cup final against Manchester City, yet after the game he found himself berating his opposite number Jimenez. His post-match comments centred around the way Jimenez celebrated his goal, and it hasn’t gone down well with the fans.
Wolves’ Mexican hit-man scored their second goal of the game in the second half, and when he did double Wolves’ advantage just after the hour mark it looked like the game was done and dusted. Having signed officially for Wolves in the week, Jimenez reeled off in jubilation, found a wrestling mask he’d planted before the game and celebrated wildly in front of his fans, and Deeney obviously didn’t take too kindly to these celebrations as he slammed Jimenez afterwards, leading to some angry reaction.

Poor show from Deeney and uncalled for…. The mask was fun for players and fans of Wolves and isn't offensive to anyone… Very unsporting in my opinion.

Complete lack of humility in victory.

I'll be wishing City all the best for the final

Sore winner. The mask was a harmless bit of fun

Was going to root for Watford in the final but those comments have changed my mind, hope City put them to the sword.

It’s not as if the mask was disrespectful to Watford. Harmless fun. Deeney too touchy. Come on City!!

Seems like a nice guy. Shows his classy nature in victory

The Wolves fans were all pretty clear on what they thought of Deeney after his comments and will just hope that Manchester City can out six or seven past the Hornets in next month’s final now.
