Wolves finally finish Rui Patricio business

Wolverhampton Wanderers made a number of impressive signings in the summer transfer window as they made their return to the Premier League.

Nuno Espirito Santo have started fairly well in the top-flight since being promoted and one man that has been key to those performances is Rui Patricio.

The Portugal international joined from Sporting Lisbon in the summer after terminating his contract with the club following an apparent incident at the training ground with some of the club’s supporters.

The Portuguese outfit were not happy with how things happened and claimed they would do all they could to get compensation for the switch.

And, Wolves have now confirmed that they have come to an agreement on a fee of €18million with a statement on the club’s official website.

The Molineux outfit have also stated that they believe the matter is finished and will not be making any further comments about it.

The Verdict:

Despite having signed Patricio on a free transfer in the summer, having only had to spend £18m on him would still have to be regarded as a major coup for the club.

The Portugal ‘keeper has been a mainstay for Wolves this season, having played in all 10 fixtures so far and has kept four clean sheets in those games.

Wolves will now be looking ahead, with games against Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal coming up in the Premier League, whilst the January transfer window also starts to creep closer.
