Wolverhampton Wanderers will have their sights set on securing a European spot in the current campaign, having defied expectations up until this point.
The Midlands club haven’t always been perfect in the current campaign as they’ve lacked goals at the pinnacle of the attack at times, so signing a striker could prove crucial. Interestingly, it appears as if Nuno Espirito Santo has one in his sights, as according to The Telegraph, Wolves are interested in Charlie Austin.
Wolves are interested in signing Austin, with the Englishman set to leave Southampton this month.
However, Aston Villa are also in the hunt for the attacker.
Indeed, the Premier League club are eager to add to their attacking options this window and have looked at Austin with a view to a permanent deal. Raul Jimenez has been impressive up until this point in the current campaign, but he just hasn’t been able to find the back of the net on a consistent basis.
Charlie Austin, who is valued at £9 million (by Transfermarkt), has been a prolific goalscorer throughout his football career, but he just hasn’t been able to enjoy regular minutes in the current campaign.
Wolves could reach another level if they manage to secure the services of the Englishman as he would provide the deadly touch in front of goal that has been missing this season.
