There is no denying Wolverhampton Wanderers have been exceptional this season. Competing for seventh place in the Premier League and a FA Cup semi-final just goes to prove that point even further.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have put in a number of impressive results along the way, with wins against a number of the top-six this season, however, those performances have attracted some unwanted interest in the club’s manager.
What’s the News?
Correia da Manha (via Sport Witness) are claiming that Chelsea hold an interest in the Portuguese manager, which has led to speculation about who could replace him at Molineux should a move happen.
And, it should not come as a surprise to hear that another individual from the Iberian nation. Benfica’s Bruno Lage is reportedly being lined up and it is claimed Wolves are prepared to pay the €20million (£17.2m) release fee to make it happen.
And, surprise surprise, Lage is a client of Jorge Mendes as well.
Nuno has been nothing short of outstanding during his time at Wolves and has certainly helped to bring the good times back to the club after a number of rather torrid years recently.
However, with the way he has managed to get his team to perform, it is hardly a surprise to see him be linked with potential moves away from Molineux in the future.
But, is Lage the right man to potentially replace him? Well, considering his record so far with Benfica, it would not appear to be a bad one on paper.
Having been at the Lisbon giants since February, he has managed to 12 of his 13 Primeira Liga games so far (with his other result a draw) and looks likely to guide the side to the top-flight title.
With Mendes also potentially involved, it could be a rather easy replacement for Wolves to make as they will be able to use their connections with the agent to their advantage and make the transition rather easily.
Wolves fans, if Nuno was to leave, do you think Lage could be a good appointment? Who would you look to hire if Nuno does depart? Join in with the discussion below by sharing your thoughts with us.
