Wolves got a taste of what Premier League football is all about this weekend as former champions Leicester dispatched the newly promoted Molineux club 2-0 at the King Power.
Nuno Santo’s men have been tipped to perform well in the top flight, but were undone by some experience and guile this weekend, and it really does highlight the need for the club to go out and buy a top class striker in either this or the next window.
One player we at the Transfer Tavern think should be on their radar is Middlesbrough striker Britt Assombalonga.
The former Nottingham Forest man simply oozes goals at Championship level, and with his speed, power, and finishing ability, there is little to doubt that he could well flourish in the Premier League if given the chance.
Assombalonga himself would no doubt relish the crack at the top flight, and would fancy himself to knock in the goals in a team like Wolves have.
While Leo Bonatini and Raul Jimenez offer something, Wolves lack a direct threat through the middle in terms of pace and deadly finishing, and Assombalonga offers just that.
If they can convince Middlesbrough to sell, then Wolves could well be getting just the man they need to complete the jigsaw this season.
Wolves fans, what do you think? Good signing? Let us know in the comments!
