Wolverhampton Wanderers fans in the Transfer Tavern have already seen their club sign five players so far this transfer window but more are expected.
With the West Midlands club looking to bolster their midfield, Turkish outlet A Spor (via the Birmingham Mail) recently reported that Watford had made a £7.9M bid for Wolves and West Brom target Josef de Souza.
The offer is understood to be below Fenerbahce’s valuation of their player and is significantly less than the £10.6M deal West Brom had agreed in August last year, only for the Baggies to pull out last minute when they signed Grzegorz Krychowiak on loan from PSG.
However, de Souza (who is valued at £8.10m by Transfermarkt) is in high demand, which means whoever does end up signing him will most likely pay over the odds for the 29-year-old Brazillian.
Wolves are also short of midfielders and have been linked with Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere, who recently announced that he would be leaving the Gunners after 17 years at the club.
Wilshere would provide some much-needed Premier League experience for Wolves, something the current squad (and of course the boss) severely lack.
The Englishman would also be a senior figure and a leader in the dressing room, which Wolves may need in order to get the best out of their array of new signings. He would be a much better option than de Souza, as well as someone to get the fans excited.
