Wolverhampton Wanderers fans in the Transfer Tavern are still celebrating after lifting the Championship title which secured a return to the Premier League for the first time since 2012.
With the season now over, Wolves can look forward to the summer transfer window where they will aim to strengthen their squad to stay in the division. They spent close to £50m last summer including the impressive additions of Diego Jota and Ruben Neves. Thanks to help from super agent Jorge Mendes, Wolves are capable of attracting huge names to Molineux.
Promotion to the Premier League means even more players will be interested in a move. One name they should target is Barcelona midfielder – Andre Gomes – who is valued at £13.5m according to Transfermarkt. Tottenham had previously aimed to sign the midfielder in the summer, but their failed pursuit of Philippe Coutinho scuppered the deal. With Coutinho now a Catalan, Gomes could be set for an exit.
The Portuguese is a complete midfielder – capable of operating in the offensive third or a deep-lying role similar to Neves. His best attribute is his passing; he has completed 89% of his passes during his 16 La Liga appearances for the Blaugrana this season – according to Squawka.
Despite being a creative player, Gomes must add goals to his game. If he can do that, he could prove to be a massive signing for Nuno Espirito Santo.
