Wolves are desperate to bolster their firepower in the January transfer window.

The Midlands club were denied all three points against Arsenal at the weekend with Henrikh Mkhitaryan scoring a late goal to cancel out Ivan Cavaliero’s early strike. Wolves are without a win in their last four games but shown their quality again, adding Arsenal to a list of respectable draws against Manchester City and Manchester United. Nuno Espirito Santo now has the international break to get his side rested before the busy festive period.

The former Porto manager strengthened his squad heavily during the summer but is eager to bolster his ranks further in the January transfer window. The Championship winners have been struggling for goals this season and Nuno has identified his forward line as an area of improvement. Reports suggest the Portuguese will make a new striker his priority.

One man who should top his shortlist is Nantes hitman – Emiliano Sala. Valued at £12.6m by Transfermarkt, the Argentine has been a key player for his side since joining from Bordeaux in 2015 for just £900k. Sala has hit double figures for goals in his last two seasons, and his excellent form has continued into the new campaign.

The 27-year-old has been scoring for fun in Ligue 1, netting an incredible 11 goals in just 12 appearances so far this season as well as one goal in the French League Cup. A tall, powerful forward – Sala would have no issues adapting to the physicality of the Premier League. His eye for goal would help Wolves to finally find the back of the net consistently and push for a European place in 2019; performing in the Premier League could also help Sala secure a call up the Argentinean national side.

The striker is approaching his prime and Wolves would be foolish not to bring him to Molineux.
