Wolves: Fans back Nuno Espirito Santo as boss waved off big-name January signings

Some Wolves fans are standing with Nuno Espirito Santo as it was revealed that the Portuguese manager turned down suggestions from the club’s transfer committee to sign RB Salzburg attacker Hwang Hee-Chan and Dinamo Zagreb midfielder Dani Olmo.
According to The Athletic, former sporting director Kevin Thelwell and head of recruitment John Marshall proposed the two names to Nuno in January. However, the Wolves manager opted to go for Daniel Podence and Leonardo Campana instead of that duo, with Olmo joining RB Leipzig during the winter window.
Wolves were one of the busier clubs in the Premier League during last month’s transfer window, with the West Midlands-based side making four signings in January (per Transfermarkt). Whilst most fans of football teams may be annoyed to miss out on two players like Hwang and Olmo, some Wolves supporters on social media seemed content with it and were keen to back their manager.
Can Wolves finish in the top four?
Yes

No

Here’s what a handful of Wolves fans had to say on Twitter about Nuno turning down Hwang and Olmo in the January window…
In Nuno I trust.

Interesting. Don’t think many people would be expecting to hear this. Respect to Thelwell, thankless job to be the face of something so important which operates in such secrecy.
Support Nunos decisions, not the one I’d had made but its what’s right for him not us.— Tom (@Kumpi3) February 4, 2020
Most of wolves fan base put those names forward too – easy to put names forward, getting them in is the difficult part!

Nuno knows the players he wants to fit the system he employs. Fair play to Thelwell for putting them forward & fair play for accepting that they were not what Nuno needed.
