Tim Spiers has bemoaned the 'pretty sad' booing of Raul Jimenez by some Arsenal fans after Wolves' dramatic 2-1 defeat at the Emirates Stadium.

The Lowdown: Wolves suffer late defeat

Bruno Lage's men were beaten in agonising fashion on Thursday night as they suffered a damaging loss in the Premier League top-four race.

Things were going smoothly when Hwang Hee-chan opened the scoring before half-time, only for Nicolas Pepe to make it 1-1 late on and Jose Sa to inadvertently score a last-gasp own goal.

Jimenez led the line on his return to the scene of his horrific head injury last season, but this too didn't prove to be a happy visit to north London for the Mexican.

The Latest: Spiers bemoans Jimenez booing

Taking to Twitter after the match, Spiers revealed that the Wolves striker was inexplicably booed by some Arsenal fans at the final whistle, despite what happened to him there in November 2020.

The journalist raged: "Jimenez being booed off by the home fans which is pretty sad after last year. He applauds them regardless."

The Verdict: Lack of class

While tribalism is to be expected in football, to boo Jimenez after everything he has gone through shows a complete lack of class from the Arsenal fans in question.

Not only did the Mexican's career almost end that night but his life could have, such was the severity of the injury, and it would have been nice to see some respect shown to him.

That said, there were no doubt plenty of Gunners fans who sportingly applauded Jimenez when he did the same to them, with some things in life more important than football.
