Despite a poor run of recent form, Wolves made have made a solid start to their first season back in the Premier League and currently sit 12th in the table.
Last year, Wolves were superb and stormed to promotion. With the likes of Ruben Neves, Helder Costa and Matt Doherty, Nuno Espirito Santo transformed the side into one of the most complete sides in the Championship. Wolves scored a league-high 82 goals while also having the best defence in the league.
Wolves’ defence was extremely solid with Conor Coady and Willy Boly at the back. Although the two defenders have continued to play for Espirito Santo this season, reliable goalkeeper, John Ruddy has found it hard to get back into the team with the arrival of Rui Patricio over the summer.
Ruddy made 45 appearances for the club last season but this year he has failed to make an appearance in the league and has only made two in the EFL Cup.
Unfortunately for Ruddy, Patricio has been outstanding since his arrival over the summer and started every game in the league so far this season.
At only 32, Ruddy still has a few years left at the top level and therefore, the goalkeeper must look to make a move away in January.
There are multiple clubs, including Leeds that will be in the market for a goalkeeper and a move for Ruddy might just prove to be a wise move for any number of them as they look to gain promotion into the Premier League.
With Norwich City, Ruddy was a consistent and reliable performer. During their time in the Premier League, Ruddy established himself as one of the better goalkeepers in the league and as a result of that he earned a call-up to Roy Hodgson’s Euro 2012 squad although he would miss out due to injury.
With his chances of playing for Wolves looking pretty slim, Ruddy must look to make a move away in January.Like what the TT have on offer? Sign up for more notifications!
