The world of football is currently battling the global outbreak of the coronavirus and Wolverhampton Wanderers have confirmed that their official plea to the UEFA to postpone the Europa League game vs Olympiacos has been declined.
This is a rather unfortunate turn of events and Wolves’ statement highlights how human health and safety should definitely be more important than a football game.
Chief football writer John Cross agreed with their verdict, stating that this was ultimately a bad decision by UEFA since they are risking the infection spreading and potentially causing even more harm over time.
Here’s what he said on his Twitter profile.
Wolves are quite right. Surely health of fans, players and staff must come first. Bad decision by UEFA.

Cross also called Wolves’ statement powerful and outlined they were quite right in stating what they stated.
It remains to be seen, however, what happens next and whether the virus can be contained in the not so distant future. Otherwise, games being cancelled and postponed might become a regular occurrence in the world of football.
Wolves fans, what do you think about UEFA’s decision to go ahead with the game? Do you agree with it? Let us know down in the comments below!
