According to El Desmarque, Wolverhampton Wanderers are closing in on a deal to bring Lyon right-back Kenny Tete to Molineux in this January transfer window.
The 23-year-old full-back has been in and out of the Lyon squad this season but his form has impressed in recent weeks. The 12-cap Netherlands international is a very modern, aggressive full-back, known for his swashbuckling style.
Tete has all the qualities needed to be a success in the Premier League and could quickly become a key figure for Wolves.
Since their promotion to the top flight last season, Wolves have taken to the Premier League with gusto. Nuno Espirito Santo’s side play exciting, attacking football, and the Portuguese coach has a squad stacked with technically gifted players.
Full-backs play a vital role in Nuno’s squad. Wolves typically set up with a three-at-the-back system, with wing-backs playing further up the field.
Tete would compete for one of these wing-back roles, and his versatility allows him to operate on either side of the pitch, or even fill in at centre-back if required.
The Dutchman would do well to displace Matt Doherty in the right wing-back berth, but the Irishman could certainly do with the extra competition for his place.
