A number of Wolves fans have been calling for investment in the squad this month after their winless run was extended to four games in all competitions today.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s men could only draw 1-1 at home against an injury-ravaged Newcastle and needed to come from behind, with Leander Dendoncker cancelling out Miguel Almiron’s early goal as the Black Country outfit fell eight points behind fourth-placed Chelsea. [via BBC]
The Athletic journalist Tim Spiers gave his two cents on Twitter at the full-time whistle (via @TimSpiers), saying that the home side were “lacking in inspiration” at Molineux and only threatened Martin Dubravka in the visitors’ goal on a couple of occasions. Despite having 65% of possession, Wolves managed only nine shots in total against the Magpies, with a mere four of those on target (as per BBC).
Poor game. Newcastle played for a point and earned it. Wolves lacking in inspiration and bench options. Dubravka pulled off two really good saves but otherwise Wolves didn't create enough.
64% possession for Nuno's team and only 9 shots.

Today’s match was the 38th that Wolves have played in all competitions this season and five players have already racked up more than 2,500 minutes of action in the current campaign, with eight men appearing in 30 matches or more. [via TransferMarkt]
These Wolves fans on Twitter sent a message to owners Fosun that new signings are needed in the January transfer window:

Surely we have to make signings?

Signings are needed urgently.

If only there was a transfer window open we could take advantage of

Lack of options in the squad Is a massive worry. I’d struggle to name a poorer bench in the league than ours today.#wwfc

Striker + creative midfielder + defender required – not sure it’s going to happen.
— Simon O’Donnell (@SimonODonnell01) January 11, 2020
That game just shows how much we need new signings, if we don’t make them this window we’ll finish bottom half.
