Wolves: Fans laud Ruben Neves’ performance against Slovan Bratislava despite penalty miss

A stoppage-time header from Raul Jimenez ensured a third successive Europa League victory for Wolves, who defeated Slovan Bratislava 1-0 at Molineux last night.
They could easily have been in front long before the Mexican’s late winner, though, as Ruben Neves had a penalty saved by Dominik Greif early in the second half.
Can Wolves cope without Willy Boly?
Yes

No

Despite that faux pas from the Portugal midfielder, his performance was still commended after the game by The Athletic‘s Wolves reporter Tim Spiers on Twitter [via @TimSpiers].
Not a great penalty but otherwise Ruben Neves was influential again in a more advanced role. Played a few sumptuous through balls. Definitely the way forward.https://t.co/SJwiIChLom

He noted how Neves “was influential again” in a central midfield role, having played in a more advanced position in his last two games after a lengthy spell in defensive midfield, as per TransferMarkt.
The 22-year-old completed 89 of his 100 passes on the night, more than any other player on the field, and also recorded five shots, second only to Jimenez. He contributed to his team defensively as well, winning two tackles and making three interceptions. [via WhoScored]
These Wolves fans on Twitter agreed with Spiers’ view that Neves was impressive on the night:
Ruben was awesome Penalty aside he was superb playing some sublime passes cutting there defence in half. Ruben just needs a goal cause as I also need the points for my dream team 👍🐺😂

Neves was my MOTM. A few loose balls but he was willing to take risks to find that killer through ball. So much better playing past the half way line. How many shots has he had in the last 2 games compared to the previous 20?
