Wolves moved up to fifth in the Premier League overnight after a 2-1 victory away to Bournemouth gave Nuno Espirito Santo’s side their second successive league win and stretched their unbeaten run in the competition to eight matches.
First half goals from Joao Moutinho and Raul Jimenez ensured victory for the away side at the Vitality Stadium, with the 10-man Cherries pulling a goal back through Steve Cook just before the hour mark. [via BBC]
The opening goal from Moutinho on 21 minutes was a brilliantly-struck free kick from the edge of the penalty area, the Portugal midfielder lofting the ball over Bournemouth goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale from an acute angle and into the far corner of the net. [via @futureflights360 on Twitter]
It was a sumptuous way for the 33-year-old to get his first goal of the season, having provided seven assists so far in 2019/20, with The Athletic’s Wolves reporter Tim Spiers tweeting (via @TimSpiers) that it was a “fabulous strike” which he “100% meant“.
