Two years ago today, Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves scored his first goal for the club, a long-range effort against Hull that Wolves’ official Twitter channel delightfully recalled.
On this day two years ago, Ruben Neves introduces himself to England in a BIG way…

Taking possession on the left-hand side, he cut infield before unleashing a powerful shot from 30 yards that gave Hull goalkeeper Allan McGregor no chance of saving – quite a way to open the scoring after just six minutes of the game.
The Portugal international’s magnificent goal ended up being a significant one on the night as Nuno Espirito Santo’s men won 3-2 at the KCOM Stadium to preserve their 100% start to the campaign and it was their third league game of what ultimately was a Championship-winning season.
That was the first of six league goals for Neves in 2017/18, the midfielder playing 42 times as Wolves won promotion to the Premier League, and he added five more goals in 40 appearances in all competitions last season.
These Wolves fans on Twitter rejoiced in watching the goal and have enjoyed Neves’ performances since, with some recalling their own memories of that night in Hull:
What a signing and what a professional is, both on and off the pitch
