Several Wolves fans were slating the decision to bring on Morgan Gibbs-White in the club’s 1-0 FA Cup defeat to Manchester United.
The 19-year-old replaced Pedro Neto just after the 70th minute in the third-round replay as Wolves chased an equaliser. For some supporters, however, Gibbs-White was not the answer.
Following confirmation that Gibbs-White had been substituted on in place of Neto, a host of negative and sarcastic responses quickly appeared on Twitter from new customers and old. The English youngster has made little impact this season, explaining why not everyone was happy with his introduction.
Gibbs-White is yet to score or provide an assist, while Neto has scored once and provided three times in all competitions. The former has been the better dribbler out of the two in the Europa League, though, the competition where he has got most of his minutes from. He has averaged 1.3 dribbles per game in it, which is vastly better than Neto’s average of 0.5 (via WhoScored).
Whatever the case, in the end, neither player could save Nuno Espirito Santo’s men from elimination as Manchester United managed to protect their 1-0 lead.
