Former Premier League striker Darren Bent is tipping Raul Jimenez for a summer move, suggesting that he could be perfect for a club like Chelsea.
The Blues were, of course, in the market for a new No.9 last month but failed in their attempts. Moussa Dembele, who they reportedly looked at, and Timo Werner are both said to be targets for the next transfer window, but Bent believes Jimenez is the sort of forward that they should be looking to acquire.
Speaking to Football Insider, the ex-Tottenham man said: “From what I’m hearing, there will be a lot of top clubs trying to sign him [Jimenez] in the summer. He could do a job at Chelsea. I can see Manchester United or Chelsea coming in for him.
“Jimenez knows the Premier League, so that is the advantage so he would be a great signing for either.” It remains to be seen whether Wolves would sanction a sell this summer, but Bent is certainly right to highlight the Mexican’s credentials.
Jimenez has really excelled in English football since joining from Benfica last season. He scored 13 goals in his debut campaign and has added to that with another 11 goals this term.
Can Wolves keep hold of Raul Jimenez?
The 28-year-old brings more than just goals to the table, though, proving himself to be quite the creator as well during his time at Molineux. His average of 1.5 key passes per game is the second highest in the squad (via WhoScored) and only Adama Traore has provided more assists (seven to Jimenez’s six) in the Premier League this season.
Keep that up and, as Bent alluded to, the sharks will start to circle.
