Wolves’ six-game unbeaten run was ended by Watford at the weekend thanks to two quickfire goals.

Etienne Capoue opened the scoring of the cagey affair after just 20 minutes with a thunderbolt that gave Rui Patricio no chance. Only one minute later, their lead was doubled by Roberto Pereyra giving the visitors an unassailable lead. Wolves were unable to recover, and Watford held on for their first win since September.

Despite the defeat, Wolves will still be pleased with their performance with nine games played in the Premier League. The club are in mid-table, above Manchester United, and a few more positive results could see them make a late charge for a European place. If Wolves want to finish in Europe, they need to land a top goalscorer in January.

The perfect man for the job could be PSV Eindhoven sensation – Hirving Lozano. Valued at £36m by Transfermarkt, the Mexico international netted 17 league goals as PSV lifted the Eredivisie title last season before helping his country defeat Germany at the World Cup in Russia. The winger’s hot streak in front of goal has continued with eight goals in just nine appearances this season.

Surprisingly, no top European sides were able to prise him away from Holland in the summer giving Wolves the perfect opportunity to secure his signature in the January window. With terrifying pace and expert dribbling ability, Lozano would be a nightmare for Premier League defenders. His eye for goal could be crucial in securing European football at Molineux next season.

It would take a mammoth fee to convince PSV to sell their prized asset, but Wolves would be a force to be reckoned with if they added Lozano to their forward line.
