Wolves would be ready for a Europa League challenge if they can land Kurt Zouma

Wolverhampton Wanderers have already shelled out on some high-profile signings, but one more signing could really take them to the next level.

Nuno Espirito Santo has wasted no time this summer getting the Black Country outfit ready for Premier League football again. The calibre of player coming through the door at Molineux is not one normally associated with newly promoted signs. It seems Wolverhampton Wanderers are not simply entering Premier League level with the ambition to merely survive.

Building on solid foundations from last season, with players such as Helder Costa, Wolves have made signings which diffuses quality throughout the squad. Portuguese international goalkeeper Rui Patricio being a particular coup for the club, showing the standard Santo is now demanding at Molineux. One more addition could propel Wolves from a likely mid-table outfit into a team who could challenge for a Europa League spot.

With that in mind, here is the one player Wolves should sign ahead of deadline day…

The buy Wolves need to make is Chelsea centre-back Kurt Zouma. Still just 23-years-of-age, Zouma has plenty of Premier League experience behind him.

If there is one thing this Wolverhampton Wanderers side lacks it is Premier League experience, many of their new imports have not played a single minute of football in the English top flight. The French centre-back, who is capped at senior international level, has both the experience in the Premier League, with giants Chelsea and Stoke City. Likely to be frozen out of Chelsea’s first team, this would be an ideal move for Wolves.

Zouma is valued at £13.5m by Tranfermarkt.

He is a physical player, who will win everything in the air, but also has the composure required from a modern centre-back. At his age, he could patrol the Wolverhampton Wanderers defence for many years to come, this would be a smart move by the Molineux outfit.
