The Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Transfer Tavern are still wholly frustrated about life at Wembley.
For our local Lillywhites, many of them are starting to think the wonderful Champions League win over Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday is a false dawn. Their Wembley woe continued against Swansea City over the course of the weekend, failing to score in a bore draw.
So, reports from the Sun have at least cheered them up somewhat.
According to their report, Tottenham have opened talks with star man Dele Alli over a new deal in north London. One of the most exciting youngsters in world football, the 21-year-old England international has previously been linked with a move to Real Madrid.
While he has five years left on his current contract, the former MK Dons midfielder is understood to have begun talks over a new deal that would reportedly see him break the £100k-p/w barrier on Hotspur Way.
A massive contract for Alli could see him kept with the club a lot longer as well as sold for a much higher figure.
While being able to ward off big interest forever may be a somewhat unrealistic notion, another deal certainly couldn’t hurt their chances.
