Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern can’t quite believe what they’ve read this afternoon, as it’s suggested they’ve pulled off a major deal with a world-class manager.
Spanish outlet Don Balon state Pep Guardiola has chosen Manchester United as the club for his next managerial role, leaving the hopes of rival Premier League clubs, like Manchester City, shattered.
Guardiola’s exit from Bayern Munich has been confirmed, with Carlo Ancelotti already lined-up as his replacement, and the Catalan boss has made it clear he wants his next challenge to be in the Premier League.
Whilst a host of clubs chase his signature, the somewhat surprising decision is said to have been made by Guardiola and he wants to bring Barcelona goalkeeper Claudio Bravo with him.
Bravo wants first-team assurances in Catalonia, as does Marc-Andre Ter Stegan, and Barcelona are more likely to stick with the German as a long-term option, which is likely to mean Chilean World Cup hero Bravo will leave the Nou Camp.
Guardiola reportedly wants Bravo at Old Trafford as a replacement for David De Gea, who’s exit to join Real Madrid seems inevitable.
Our landlord has urged United fans not to get ahead of themselves though, as he’s reluctant to believe these reports.
