Schurrle, who set-up Mario Gotze’s winner in the 2014 World Cup final, lifted the lid to Sky Sports on his exit as he pointed towards a lack of trust in him by Jose Mourinho, whilst also indicating young players find it difficult in West London and it’s clear Eden Hazard is treated as a favourite.
“I don’t know why Mourinho didn’t trust me. It all felt a bit weird to me. It was up and down the whole time. I didn’t get any consistency from the manager, so found it hard to produce my best.”
Chelsea’s loss has been Wolfsburg’s gain, as Schurrle was a key player for the Bundesliga side last season after joining the club permanently in January- helping Dieter Hecking’s side reach Champions League football and win the DFB Polkal Cup.
Wolfburg may have lost Kevin De Bruyne in the summer but Julian Draxler’s arrival, added to a wealth of other talent at the club, has left the German side looking very strong.
