Worry for Wenger as door opens for rival to complete deal for £55.25m-rated star

The Arsenal fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern were delighted with the addition of Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon earlier this month, but fear it will count for nothing if the club cannot hang on to star man Alexis Sanchez.

The Chilean international has been at the centre of a contract saga for the best part of a year with just 12 months remaining on his current deal in north London.

And there is further concern for the resident Gooners in the bar this afternoon as comments from Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge handed top four rivals Manchester City, who have been credited with interest, have a clear run at the £55.25m-rated forward.

The German giants had been linked with a move for the former Barcelona man, however, despite his recent hints at a move Rummenigge has ruled out a deal.

“I don’t know what [Sanchez] has said but we are no longer involved,” he told the Daily Mail.

“We are in agreement with the coach [Carlo Ancelotti] and we won’t be doing another deal for an attacker. That makes no sense.”

Our landlord is certain that if Wenger wants to use this summer to recover from last season’s debacle then holding onto the 28-year-old, who scored 30 goals and picked up 19 assists in all competitions last season, is vital.

Arsenal fans, we want to hear from you! Do you think you can hold onto Sanchez if City and Pep Guardiola come calling? Let us know below…
