Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have been sweating at the start of this week, as they gear up for a difficult end to the season and a stern test against London rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup semi-finals.
Defeat to Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday saw the Blues’ advantage over second-placed Spurs reduced to just four points, leaving Mauricio Pochettino’s side with an outside chance of winning the league for only the second time in the club’s history.
Whilst the fixture list favours Chelsea, fans are concerned that their problems could continue into the summer and the latest reports regarding Eden Hazard does not make for good reading for Blues supporters hoping to keep his services.
Spanish outlet Diario Gol state Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has authorised a world-record £100m deal for the Belgian ace, as he’s determined to get a deal for the former Lille star over the line whatever the cost.
Los Blancos’ manager Zinedine Zidane is a big fan of Hazard and wants to shake-up his attacking options, which could see Hazard come in to replace Karim Benzema in attack, with Cristiano Ronaldo moving to a central position up-top.
Chelsea are determined to fend-off any interest in their star-man and will not do business for anything less than £84m (€100m), which is the same figure that Real Madrid paid Tottenham for the services of Gareth Bale.
Should that sort of offer come in though, it will be extremely difficult for Chelsea to say no- but our landlord has warned them that replacing Hazard would be impossible.
