The West Ham fans in the Transfer Tavern have been discussing the future of their big Austrian forward, Marko Arnautovic. A number of sources (including Sky Sports) have claimed that Manchester United are pursuing the big forward after his impressive debut season with the Hammers. The Irons are in danger of facing a repeat of the situation they were in when Dimitri Payet left for Marseille in January 2017.
West Ham would not have survived without Mark Arnautovic’s goals. The striker scored 11 goals in his debut season at The London Stadium, winning the Hammer of the year award for 2018 to put himself on a list of layers to win the award that includes the likes of Sir Bobby Moore, Sir Trevor Brooking and Paulo Di Canio, some of the club’s most famous ever players.
There’s no doubting the fact that Arnie has a long way to go before he can be classed in the same category as some of the aforementioned names, there’s no doubting that the troublesome forward has a knack of scoring important goals and being in the right place at the right time. The Irons propping our bar up will be hoping they can see their number seven continue to dazzle for the next few seasons, although they’ll need to ensure he remains a West Ham player, with Manchester United’s recent interest coming as a worry to most fans.

If Arnie was to leave us for united, I would be more heartbroken than when Dimitri Payet left

Double we paid, we got more than double for Payet. If Pellegrini plays Arnie on the wing then I’d take the money all day, if he gets played up front again then it’s a tough decision.

Payet never showed the same enthusiasm in the club as Arnie has. He pointed at the back of hit shirt more than the front when he scored.

If #Arnautovic has his head turned by Man Utd then let him go. We thank him but we don’t want another Payet situation.

Yeah you've got a point mate. But I do think with 30M you can sign a top young striker. I just don't want another payet situation where we have big offers but refused to do business then ended up losing our best player for nothing

If he did join #mufc he wouldn’t be a starter. Not sure if Arnautovic would want that. He knows he’s the first name on the team sheet with us. We’ll see what happens. Would be gutted to lose him though. Owners need to be strong and say he’s not for sale at any price.
