‘Would be the biggest thing since Shearer’ – Newcastle fans on Twitter discuss transfer idea

The Newcastle fans in the Transfer Tavern have been talking about a potential swoop for their former target-man, Andy Carroll. According to The TelegraphDavid Moyes sent the striker home from training after a furious argument between the two yesterday. The club is reportedly setting up an investigation into the incident.

David Moyes was supposedly unhappy with Andy Carroll as the striker made his way down the tunnel to the dressing room to use the toilet midway through the second-half after Moyes had made a triple substitution. The big striker has been getting increasingly frustrated with his lack of game time recently, with his last start coming on January 2nd, when the Hammers beat West Brom 2-1 through two Andy Carroll goals.

In recent weeks, the striker has been limited to substitute appearances and even scored a late equaliser off the bench for the Hammers against Stoke in a 1-1 draw at the London Stadium two weeks ago. The future of the ex-Liverpool man is now up in the air and with Islam Slimani’s failed loan at Newcastle brought to an abrupt end by his ban, Rafa Benitez could be looking at Carroll as the Magpies next target-man. Carroll came through at St James Park, joining the first team in 2006 before being sold to Liverpool four-and-a-half years later in January 2011.
