Italian website Firenzeviola are reporting that Udinese midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah is being linked with a move to Manchester City in the summer. The 22 year old Ghanaian is reportedly also a target for Juventus, Fiorentina and CSKA Moscow.
The player’s agent, Claudio Vagheggi, has apparently been stoking the fires telling reporters that many teams are interested in the player and ‘why shouldn’t they be, now that he is doing well.’
The website quoted Vagheggi in his native Italian, but lucky for you (and me because I don’t even speak English good!) Ghana’s ‘most authoritive football news website,’ Ghanasoccernet.com also featured the story. Whilst Vaghaggi has been approached by a number of clubs regarding his player’s future, he refused to discuss anything further because he felt it was a bit ‘premature.’
Premature it may be, but Asamoah looks like he could be a decent player. Certainly Udinese seem to think so. As well as tying him up with a contract till 2014 they’ve also slapped a €30 million price tag on the player’s head. The 22 year old has been at Udinese since 2008 and has made over 50 appearances for the Italian side.
They currently sit 5th in Serie A just 1 point behind Lazio. Mancini certainly has the finances, and the Italian knows his nation’s game well. Man City fan’s have recently bemoaned their lack of squad depth, and Asamoah could be an intriguing acqusition for the Sky Blues.
