Xherdan Shaqiri undergoes Liverpool medical

Liverpool have been fairly active in the transfer window this summer and are thought to be on the verge of securing another deal.

Jurgen Klopp has been keen to strengthen his squad as they look to build on last season’s efforts and has already brought in the likes of Fabinho and Naby Keita to help improve their efforts.

The German has also looked for a new goalkeeper and attacker, although moves have failed to materialise so far, although it is expected he will go back into the market for them.

It does, however, appear that he is about to land his third signing of the summer with reports stating that Klopp is on the verge of signing a World Cup winger.

According to the Liverpool Echo, the Anfield outfit are in the advanced stages of securing a deal for Stoke City’s Xherdan Shaqiri, with the Switzerland international undergoing a medical.

It is believed the Reds have triggered the £13million release clause for the 26-year-old, following the Potters relegation from the Premier League.

The Verdict:

The £13m fee being reported would make Shaqiri a bargain buy this summer considering the winger’s ability and experience. The Switzerland star will provide Liverpool with an untold amount of quality and could easily slot into the system that Klopp employs at Anfield.

Shaqiri will need to work hard to get into the Liverpool first-team though, with the likes of Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino playing down the flanks, however, he would be an amazing talent to be able to call upon should they need him from the bench or as cover.
