Newcastle United fans here in the Tavern are praying that the club can find a suitable buyer, as Mike Ashley continues to run the show.
Indeed, the weekend’s victory against Manchester United brought about positive emotions that hadn’t been seen at St James’ Park in recent times. However, the tireless search for a potential successor to Mike Ashley continues drag on, as the slow process has cast a shadow over the future of Rafa Benitez in weeks gone by. And, the most recent developments in the saga don’t look promising either, as according to reports in the Chronicle Live, there’s been talk of a potential second bidder but there’s been no progress made.
A potential second bidder may have been found but one party who had been tipped as a potential buyer stated that “no progress” has been made since Ashley cut off talks with PCP Capital Partners. However, it appears that the Sports Direct mogul is heavily reliant on fresh interest being sparked in line with three years of increased revenue that would come with a new TV deal.
Indeed, after the greediness of Ashley wanting Amanda Staveley to stump up an unworkable bid in the region of £350 million, it appears that the only hope of potential purchasers matching his asking price is through a TV deal bringing fresh interest to the table. Of course, very frustrating times for our local residents here in the Tavern, as they can’t bare any more disasters under the ownership of Mike Ashley.
Mike Ashley is holding out to receive the most amount of money he possibly can, as his stubbornness continues to slow down the process of the club’s sale. Another ongoing problem to be caused by the 53-year-old in what’s made for some anxious times on Tyneside, with the future of Rafa Benitez hanging in the balance. Indeed, it could be a long while before the club can finally find a suitable buyer, as Ashley relies heavily on a TV deal being struck.
