The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern watched on as their club secured a routine 2-0 victory over Southampton on Sunday to reach this season’s FA Cup final. Olivier Giroud and Alvaro Morata got the goals on the day and Morata, whilst speaking in an interview for the Chelsea website, joked about how he is always thanking Cesar Azpilicueta, who has provided seven assists for Morata’s goals this season.

Alvaro Morata has struggled to adapt to life in London. The boots of the Spaniard before him, Diego Costa, have been big ones to fill and despite the former Real Madrid and Juventus man bagging 15 goals in 44 games, the fans are yet to be fully won over by the 25-year-old. Despite this, Morata is still set to play in his first major final since his move to Chelsea last summer in his debut season with the club.
The FA Cup final on the 19th May is Chelsea’s last chance at winning silverware in the current campaign, although whether winning the cup would make the season a success is up for debate. Antonio Conte’s 3-1 home loss to Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs has put them well behind in the race for a spot in the Premier League’s top four. The Blues sit five points behind Spurs and with just five games left to play it’s hard to see them cracking the top four and playing in the Champions League next season.

You better work on your feet. You were supposed to be the intelligent one
