There is some serious drama here in the Football Transfer Tavern, as Real Madrid are apparently eyeing up a move for Chelsea keeper Thibaut Courtois – well at least according to Metro.
The Spanish side have seen first hand just how good the young stopper is during his loan spell at neighbours and bitter rivals Atletico, and Courtois has been a major part of their form and indeed class this season.
The Belgium international produced a magnificent performance once again when Atleti played in the Champions League this week, and it became El Noche del Courtois – not the night of Mario Balotelli as much of the Spanish press had suggested.
As our landlord reminds us, the major issue with Courtois returning to Chelsea is that of Petr Cech, who has been sensational since Jose Mourinho first placed him between the sticks back in 2004.
No matter how good young Courtois is, there is still a major case to keep Cech as the number one, and this has led both Madrid sides to consider the possibility that they could well land him.
Mourinho is willing to allow Courtois to remain in Madrid – preferably on loan, and of course has major links at his former club Real Madrid.
Would you let Courtois leave or do you agree with our punters and think it would be a major error? Let us know your thoughts below.
