We recently made the case that Tottenham attacker Son Heung-min should be starting every week for the club. Over the last few years, the South Korean has been a rotational option at best, and last season he began to show a really strong level of form. He bagged 12 goals and 6 assists, which is a record that stands up to even the most notable players in North London. He’s certainly risen in prominence, but it’s fair to say that if Tottenham were to sign another attacker, he’d be the man to make way ahead of the likes of Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen.
However, we don’t think that should be the case, and it appears as though some Tottenham fans don’t either.
We recently asked Tottenham fans whether Son Heung-min deserves to start every single game for the club, and in response, a whopping 78% of those polled indicated that he should.
Meanwhile, just 22% of polled fans are against the idea.
If we asked that same question this time last year, they likely would have given a very different response, but his fine form over the last season has clearly got fans back on side.
It’s no less than he deserves. He offers brilliant energy and pace, and his goalscoring record speaks for itself.
Furthermore, at 25-years-old, he’s only just reaching his peak, and so Spurs can look forward to him getting even better next season – provided that Mauricio Pochettino gives him the show of faith that he needs.
