‘You’ve got to be kidding me’, ‘I am scared’ – Liverpool fans aren’t happy after latest news update

The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are looking forward to their Champions League clash with Man City on Wednesday night. It has been a decent few weeks for the Reds, and it’s clear that they could be on the cusp of something great.

A win against the Citizens will put them in a commanding position going into the second-leg, and the mere prospect of reaching the final four was beyond the wildest dreams of all of the Reds in the Transfer Tavern at the start of the season.

Ahead of the game, though, Liverpool have been handed a rather significant blow. As confirmed over on the official Liverpool website, and as shared over on their official Twitter, defender Joel Matip is set to miss the game – after he suffered a potentially season-ending injury over the weekend.

It’s a huge blow for Liverpool. Matip has been the first-choice partner for Virgil van Dijk at the back this term, and given how good Man City’s attack has been, his lack of availability is a real concern.

Unsurprisingly, then, the fans over on Twitter have not responded to this news too well. Indeed, many are now fearing the worst.

Take a look at what they’ve had to say below…
