The Sun are reporting that West Ham are weighing up a move for Stoke City striker James Beattie. Beattie was recently involved in a much-publicised fight with manager Tony Pulis and his future at the club is hanging in the balance as a result.
Beattie hit 19 goals last season to prove a cracking signing for the Potters but has managed just 2 this season as he’s struggled with his form. It is the latest sign of inconsistency from a player who has struggled with form throughout his career having excelled at times for Southampton but proven a flop for Everton.
The England striker could now be in line for another move with West Ham boss Gianfranco Zola considering the player as one of his options to come in to boost the Hammers’ goalscoring options following the injury to top scorer Carlton Cole.
The 31 year old is expected to command a transfer fee as low as £500,000 which could prove an absolute steal given how well Beattie performed for Stoke last season.
[Is there any substance to this and should this rumour Fly or Die?]
