Arsenal fans here in the Tavern are hoping to add to their ranks in the summer after seeing the brilliance of their January signings already at the Emirates.
Indeed, the Gunners headed into the January transfer window with some evident improvements to be made, and that’s exactly what they achieved as the additions of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan were huge for Arsene Wenger’s side. Although, with a Champions League spot still looking out of reach, the Gunners will do everything in their power to build the foundations for a top-four push next season. And, it appears that their summer plans are already well underway, as according to reports in the Don Balon, Arsene Wenger wants to bring Barcelona outcast Ousmane Dembele to North London in the summer.
The interest submitted in the Frenchman is very much down to the links with January signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, as the Gabon international is eyeing up a reunion with his former Borussia Dortmund teammate. And, much to the excitement of our local Gunners here in the Tavern, this is a move that seeks the approval of manager Arsene Wenger with the aim of turning the Frenchman into the next Thiery Henry.
Although, there could be implications to the potential deal in the form of getting close to the €105 million paid for the forward, as Arsenal are only willing to pay some €60 million for the services of the French international. But, due to the current situation of the player becoming heavily out of favour in Cataluna, Arsenal may be able to come to an agreement on a decreased price that would see him reunited with Aubameyang.
One of the most expensive players of all time – having joined the Blaugrana for around €105m in the summer – he’d certainly be a popular addition amongst the punters propping up our bar.
The signing of Ousmane Dembele would be huge to the outcome of the Gunners’ next campaign, with the Frenchman already establishing himself as one of the world’s most exciting prospects. However, there could be complications in the price tag placed on the forward, with Arsenal not likely to match the asking price of Barcelona.
