Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are gearing up for what they expect to be Arsene Wenger’s last few months in charge, and they’ve gathered in the corner to discuss who they see as a potential replacement.
One of the names regularly popping up is Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri, with the Gooners keen on his services having seen the 49-year-old Italian guide the Turin giants to domestic doubles in each of the last two seasons.
However, it seems Allegri is happy to remain in Italy and, although he admitted he was learning English, it said it was nothing to do with Arsenal. Speaking to Gazzetta Dello Sport, he said:
“It’s true, I’m studying English, but certainly not to go to Arsenal. Here at Juventus I’m fine. The funny thing is that in London there have really been, but on holiday with my daughter, and the same day I arrived in England came out a photo of me on the Sun . If then Juventus coach going to change, just let me know. ”
With the likes of Pep Guardiola, Jurgen Klopp and Jose Mourinho already at Premier League rivals, Arsenal face a stern test to find a capable replacement and Allegri’s seeming lack of interest in taking the helms in North London has come as a blow to many.
Our landlord here in the Transfer Tavern thinks that Allegri would be a fantastic replacement for Arsene Wenger at the Gunners, but can’t see it materialising anytime soon, especially after the Juve manager’s recent comments.
