It’s going to be a busy closing few days for the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern.

Indeed, with both Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Alexis Sanchez linked with moves away from the club in the closing stages of this summer, it’s fair to say our resident Gunners could do with some cheering up.

Well, reports from Sky Sports aren’t really likely to do that.

They claim Serie A giants Inter Milan have made a new offer for Shkodran Mustafi as they look to bring the World Cup winner to the San Siro.

A loan fee of £4.6m is understood to be offered, with the Nerazzurri believed to have an obligation to buy the German for a further £23m, if he plays in 50% of their league fixtures.

Still, the report claims the Emirates giants want the former Valencia man – who only arrived last summer – to stay and expect him to be a part of Arsene Wenger’s plans this season.

While the 25-year-old hasn’t always convinced our north London locals, they don’t believe the club could bring in a better replacement at this late stage.

Landlord’s Verdict:

Why sell Mustafi this late on? Though the World Cup winner may flatter to deceive at times, there’s just no way a better option could arrive before the close of the window.

Maybe next year.

Thoughts?
