The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern will be distraught to see the news (via Sky Sports News) that Hoffenheim’s young German gaffer, Julian Nagelsmann, will “100% be at the Bundesliga club next season” according to their director of football, Alexander Rosen. The 30-year-old was appointed as Hoffenheim boss in February 2016 and has worked wonders with the club, securing them a 3rd place finish this season.

Whilst there are plenty more fish in the sea regarding Arsenal’s next manager, it’s hard to see a reason why Nagelsmann doesn’t fit the mould perfectly. The young German has gained two years of experience at a top-flight European club and has performed miracles with Hoffenheim, recording a 4th place finish in his first full season at the Rhein-Neckar-Arena despite the club having finished 15th the season before.
Ivan Gazidis and Stan Kroenke will now be turning their attention to other managers, Mikel Arteta has developed into a front-runner for the job despite the fact it would be his first job in senior management. The former Arsenal captain has been Pep Guardiola’s second-in-command since he hung up his boots and he’s won his first two major honours as a coach this season, picking up the Premier League and League Cup as part of Manchester City’s incredible campaign.

Arteta to Arsenal then. All because they didn't want to pay the money to get a decent coach like Enrique or Allegri, be prepared to spend a few more seasons in the Thursday cup.
