Chelsea fans here in the Tavern will be looking forward to next season, as they’ll be hoping to secure a Champions League spot.
Indeed, the Blues had a very disappointing season as they failed to secure a Champions League place, with many of our local residents feeling extremely let down by Antonio Conte and his players. Although, it looks as if Chelsea have received a boost in their pursuit of a striker, as according to Sky Sports, Inter Milan manager Luciano Spalletti has admitted he could be powerless from stopping Mauro Icardi from leaving this summer.
The 25-year-old has been linked with a move to Chelsea over the past couple of days, as the Blues were reportedly offering cash and Alvaro Morata for the Argentine’s services.
However, it’s believed that the striker has offered Inter Milan boss Luciano Spalletti assurances that he will stay at the San Siro, but he would not be able to block a transfer if a bid came in.
“I’ve spoken with Mauro several times and he sent very precise signals.”
“He’s happy at Inter and wants to stay, but then there are clubs which, if they decide to take a player, you could have been saying ‘I won’t leave here the day before, then the next day they take you and in the end you’re happy to go, even though the previous day you were thinking very differently.”
“We have to be ready for anything, but for now there are no signals and no doubts about what he wants.”
Mauro Icardi was prolific for his current club Inter Milan this season as he managed to score 29 goals in the Serie A. Although, Chelsea should look to put a bid in for the striker in the near future, as Spalletti could be powerless from stopping him leaving this summer. There’s no doubt that the striker is an international flop at this point in his career, as he is still yet to score his first international goal and he missed out on the Argentina World Cup squad.
