Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have ordered a round of shots to celebrate the latest news they’ve heard today, which suggests a major transfer will be made this summer.

The Sun claims Everton striker Romelu Lukaku has informed the club he wants to return to Chelsea this summer, although the Toffees are demanding a world-record fee of £100m for the Belgian striker’s services.

Everton’s relationship with Chelsea has remained frosty since a bitter battle two-years ago concerning John Stones, who handed in a transfer request to try to force a move to Stamford Bridge but ended up remaining at Goodison Park for another year, and a similar scenario will occur this summer.

Whilst the Toffees have little chance of keeping Lukaku on Merseyside, with the striker refusing to sign a new deal, Everton would rather sell to Manchester United than do business with Chelsea.

However, the fact that Lukaku, who’s on £80k-a-week, is keen to return to Stamford Bridge could be decisive in transfer talks this summer and Everton will certainly find it difficult to turn down a lucrative offer for the Belgian forward.

Our landlord also believes Lukaku will snub a move to Manchester United because of Jose Mourinho, who didn’t hand the Belgian chances during his previous stint with Chelsea.
