Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are with buzzing with excitement as Antonio Conte today singled out 21-year-old Andreas Christensen for his excellent performances, stating that the young Dane could be a Chelsea for many years and is a future captain. The central defender has made 31 appearances so far this season and has been one of the standout performers in a Chelsea back line that has seen a number of players fail to perform.

Chelsea’s number 27 spent last season out on loan at German side Borussia Monchengladbach where he played in 31 out of the clubs 34 Bundesliga matches. His impressive form whilst out on loan has gave Antonio Conte no choice in establishing him as a member of the first team at Chelsea and he’s not looked back since.

Christensen’s dominant displays have led to a number of Chelsea fans describing him as “the next John Terry” and while the 21-year-old has shown he can mix it up with some of the best sides in Europe, he’s got a long way to go to match the feats of his former captain.

The £27 million-rated man, as rated by those over at Transfermarkt,  will be hoping he can help his side edge past Barcelona at the Camp Nou in a few weeks time after it was his lapse in concentration that allowed Lionel Messi to cancel out Willian’s opener at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday. However, the immediate challenge for the Dane is a must win Premier League game on Sunday against top four rivals, Manchester United.

With that in mind, here’s a look at the reaction.
