Much has been made of Chelsea’s various youth teams, with our resident Blues regularly tuning in to watch them in action. Indeed, their academy is one of Europe’s most effective, with trophy wins and league domination a regular fixture throughout the different age groups.
Chelsea’s dominance in the FA Youth Cup, in particular, has been well documented over the years. They’ve featured in each of the last six finals, winning five of them, and so there is no doubting the talent on display within the under-18 age group.
Indeed, they showed that quality once again today, as they continued their dominant league form against Swansea City. Coming out 5-1 winners, the Blues were in typically dominant fashion.
Chelsea posted the result on their official Twitter page, and unsurprisingly, the victory has created a lot discussion. That’s no real surprise, of course, especially if you contrast the form of Chelsea’s first team with the youth offering. Whilst the Blues continue to struggle in the Premier League, quite the opposite can be said of the under-18 side.
This is a point that has been echoed over on Twitter, with most Chelsea fans saying the exact same thing: give the youth a chance!
Some are being reasonable with it, and suggesting that a few players deserve a chance, whilst others are being more dramatic in demanding that the under-18 team in its entirety should be involved in the first team.
Either way, the message remains the same, and if Conte was watching, he’ll no doubt have some thinking to do as he looks to turn his team around. Take a look at what Chelsea fans have had to say below…
Start them against Barca and put in Hazard

Add a few of these players into our team in the next couple of games, what have we got to lose? Our season is just going down hill and needs change immediately. Sick of having to wake up at ridiculous times to watch us draw with clubs like everton and lose to clubs like Watford
