Everton and West Ham supporters have been in contrasting moods in the Transfer Tavern during the international break given their sides’ most recent result.

Ronald Koeman’s Toffees went down 1-0 at home to Burnley to slip to 16th place in the Premier League table, having picked up just seven points from seven matches, while Slaven Bilic’s Hammers overcame Swansea City 1-0 to move out of the bottom three.

And both teams will be hoping for a quick start when the league resumes at the weekend, and there may be some good news around the corner for our resident supporters of both clubs if reports from Norway (via ESPN) are anything to go by.

And that’s because Everton and West Ham, alongside the likes of Brighton, Leicester City, and Liverpool, are reportedly keeping tabs on Rosenborg midfielder Olaus Jair Skarsem.

The 19-year-old is coming up through the youth ranks at the Norwegian champions and made his senior debut for the club back in April 2016, in which he came off the bench to net in their 3-0 win over Afjord in the Norwegian Cup, a competition they would later go on to win.

And although Skarsem has been unable to add to that solitary appearance at senior level, he has appeared four times in their UEFA Youth League campaign thus far, and the Norway Under-19 international must be doing something right as many Premier League sides, including Everton and West Ham, are reportedly monitoring his progress.

The aforementioned duo have a history of bringing young players through at their respective clubs, and were a move for Skarsem to take place in the near future, he could well be another destined for a big future in the Premier League.

Landlord’s verdict: Although things aren’t quite working for Everton manager Ronald Koeman at present, he deserves much credit for giving young players a chance during his tenure at Goodison Park.

The likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Tom Davies, and Mason Holgate have all become first team players under the Dutchman’s guidance, and with West Ham possessing a vast history of nurturing young talent, it’s not much of a surprise to see them both linked with Rosenborg’s Olaus Jair Skarsem.

The 19-year-old is regarded as one of Norway’s brightest talents and looks set for a big future in the game, and with the midfielder himself reportedly keen on a move to England, the Toffees and the Hammers may be able to use their recent youth success and policy to their advantage in trying to land the starlet.

Everton and West Ham fans… what do you make of the news? Let us know!
