Thr Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern will be delighted today as their club has announced that Ainsley Maitland-Niles has signed a contract extension with the club keeping him at The Emirates on a long-term basis after the young midfielder put together quite the portfolio of performances last season. Fans can read more on the deal on the Arsenal website.

Maitland-Niles has been of Arsenal’s shining lights this season. The young English midfielder has slotted into the club’s midfield alongside the likes of Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey and Granit Xhaka and outperformed a number of big names. The unassuming youngster has a big future in North London, and he’s unfortunate that his chance came so close to the World Cup or he’d probably be in Gareth Southgate’s squad for the tournament.

The young versatile star who can be deployed in midfield and at full-back joined Arsenal’s academy aged just 9-years-old and after signing a contract extension he looks like he’ll be at the club for years to come. However, with great talent comes great interest and the fans will be hoping that money and a big move abroad won’t eventually tempt the 20-year-old away from The Emirates.
