The Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern are pleased that Sam Allardyce has managed to steer the club clear from safety, but now that he has fulfilled his temporary purpose plenty of supporters are beginning to call for his dismissal.

The 2017/18 campaign has not been a particularly positive one for Everton Football Club, and plenty of the supporters are willing it to end as soon as possible. Sam Allardyce has steadied the ship on Merseyside and enabled the club to achieve the results necessary to steadily move clear of the relegation zone, but despite this, he remains a relatively unpopular figure at the club.

In recent years Everton have had managers such as Roberto Martinez and Ronald Koeman who have attempted to install a footballing philosophy which encourages attractive possession-based football. Both of the aforementioned managers experienced mixed success with their efforts to promote this particular brand of football, as ultimately they were both sacked by the club.

Allardyce on the other hand has a more no-nonsense, back to basics approach to football which is perfect for a side struggling at the bottom of the table, however, his style certainly doesn’t offer a long-term strategy for a side who should be striving to finish inside the top-six of the Premier League.

With that being said, it is no surprise that the Everton supporters have been encouraged by reports emerging from The Daily Star today which claim Allardyce will be sacked in the summer.

In response to the news, plenty of the supporters have encouraged the board to make the decision now rather than wait until the summer, whilst others have suggested that Marco Silva could be the man to succeed Allardyce at Goodison Park.

Here’s what the supporters have had to say about Allardyce’s future on Twitter…
