The Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern want to see new signings at the club. Rangers are nine points off the pace at the top of the Scottish Premiership and they currently sit third in the league.
While this season may now be a write off, it is time to look to the future and to bring in players who will benefit Rangers next season. One area that Rangers may look to strengthen is the striker department.
Alfredo Morelos has been quite impressive this season, netting ten goals for the Gers, but he needs someone to share the burden of goal scoring with. Furthermore, Morelos has already been attracting attention from elsewhere. Rangers will be desperate to keep the Colombian forward and partner him with someone else up top.
There have been links with a move for Nottingham Forest man Jason Cummings, though the 22-year-old’s inconsistent nature should put them off the former Hibs man.
Rangers should look at Newcastle United’s forgotten man, Aleksandar Mitrovic. The hot-headed striker seems to be out of favour at St James’ Park, below Joselu and Dwight Gayle in the pecking order as he continues to recover from injury. He is not quite at full fitness yet but Newcastle want to sign a striker this window and he could be about to leave Tyneside.
The 23-year-old has only played seven games this season, scoring twice, with all of his six Premier League outings coming from the substitutes’ bench. At this stage of his career, he needs to make a move away to reignite his stalling career and Rangers would be the perfect location.
The Serbian international would get game time north of the border and he would be a top addition for any Scottish Premiership side. Although he has his controversial moments, the former Anderlecht man always has a bit of magic up his sleeve and this will help take Rangers to the next level.
