The Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern regard Pablo Zabaleta in the highest esteem and in their eyes the Argentinian can do no wrong.

Pablo Zabaleta enjoyed a glittering career at the Etihad Stadium which was characterised by his winning mentality and gutsy attitude and, although he has now departed the club for West Ham United, his popularity remains firmly in tact.

It’s a testament to Zabaleta’s professionalism and ability that he has appeared in 37 of West Ham’s Premier League fixtures this season, but at 33-years-of-age it appears he is beginning to prepare for his future by taking his first step into the world of football punditry.

With the World Cup just over a month away, the BBC confirmed who they will be taking to Russia to cover the tournament, and Zabaleta’s name was a surprise inclusion.

And the former City legend confirmed that he would be joining Gary Lineker and the rest of the BBC team at the World Cup via his personal Twitter account earlier today.

Zabaleta has always been a natural in-front of the camera as his ability to communicate with the City supporters with such charisma and charm both on and off the field have contributed to his immense popularity at the club, so it’s no surprise the supporters are delighted by his career update.

The West Ham United fans will be hoping that he doesn’t enjoy his time on air too much, though, as they will want him to continue his playing career with the Hammers for at least another season.

Here’s what the City fans have had to say in response to Zabaleta’s tweet…
