The Manchester City fans have had plenty to celebrate in the Transfer Tavern so far this season, and recent reports regarding the future of Phil Foden have given them further reason to be happy.

Manchester City recorded a 3-0 victory over Arsenal at Wembley last Sunday to claim the Carabao Cup for the third time in 5 seasons. It was a particularly special day for everybody involved with the club, especially for Pep Guardiola who claimed his first trophy since taking the managers job at City in the summer of 2016, and the Spaniard will be hoping that the Carabao Cup merely represents the first accolade in a treble winning season.

The Citizens victory over a hapless Arsenal side also saw Stockport-born Phil Foden make yet another appearance for the club, as Guardiola sent him onto the field in the dying embers of the game. The 17-year-old stepped onto the hallowed turf of Wembley for the very first time in the blue of Man City and added another achievement to a rapidly rising list of milestones for one of the nations most highly-regarded talents.

And according to The Times journalist Paul Hirst, City are set to offer Foden a contract extension when he turns 18 in May as a reward for his development this season. His new deal is expected to last until the summer of 2022, which proves that Guardiola sees Foden as a huge part of the clubs future.

If the reaction on Twitter is anything to go by, it’s fair to say that the City supporters are also predicting a bright future for Foden in Manchester, as they have expressed their delight at the latest reports regarding his contract situation.
